If you have not looked inward and defined your personal missions based on your principles. Then your system will crumble down, I mean how can it hold strong without a proper infrastructure in place that will defy all of life’s storms.
This is true for all walks of life, that is why going through the thought process and discourse of Stephen R. Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is vital for this endeavor to become successful.
Why? Because I tried and failed miserably. My first attempt to build a system did not last because I kept feeling lost throughout the experience. None of the frameworks that I came upon bore fruition and I kept feeling stuck, that is until I went back a step and read 7 Habits. The more chapters I read, or shall I say habits I tried to develop, all of those frameworks started clicking and everything fell into place.
If you are serious, and I mean dead serious about changing your life, then you need to start with yourself. And this book will guide you to unraveling your inner core and help you gain the perspective shift you need to approach life. Not to say that everything you know is irrelevant here, but to point out that all sails have to be guided to one direction so that we can reach the promised land.
Breaking deeply imbedded habitual tendencies such as procrastination, impatience, criticalness, or selfishness that violate basic principles of human effectiveness involves more than a little willpower and a few minor changes in our lives. “Lift off” takes a tremendous effort, but once we break out of the gravity pull, our freedom takes on a whole new dimension.
